PQ Marble it Up! Mashup Beginner Mission 5
The mountain looks terrible. Song used: A Question of Balance by Solovox I need advice on how to make player times scores high for replayability. Players beat this level in 10 seconds.. and I need a level that's a minute long. Any level that I make, it takes a few seconds to beat. For example: Wave Pool. This level has been beaten sub-1.25 but with high replayability. Anything that keeps the player occupied to spend more time on the level works. (Final score: ex. 00:40:000) TL;DR: Simple level but long time to beat that keeps the player occupied.
โI won't create ๐๐ต๐ฆ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ ๐๐ต๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ด first because it's intended to be the last level of Chapter 2, and the PQUP Beginner series has only 5 levels.โ Why would you need to create them in order? You could still ๐ถ๐ฑ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ข๐ฅ them in order. โI'm not an artist to create textures, let alone a cartoony tileable rock texture.โ Neither am I, but I could ๐ข๐ต๐ต๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ต to create one. Additionally, by modifying the official PlatinumQuest textures in the TurboWarp image editor, I have created rainbow trim and trim for moving platforms. (Yes, really โ I used a modification of Scratch. I have no skill at anything.) I will upload the textures in my forum topic.
"As a side note, I would recommend creating a custom rock texture." I'm not an artist to create textures, let alone a cartoony tileable rock texture. I tried searching for a rock texture, however none of them fits my criteria.
I wanted to add more longer levels since players skimmed through the whole series. I would definitely make something close to ๐๐ต๐ฆ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ ๐๐ต๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ด because it is genuinely painful to create these 45ยฐ convex curves. I won't create ๐๐ต๐ฆ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ ๐๐ต๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ด first because it's intended to be the last level of Chapter 2, and the PQUP Beginner series has only 5 levels.
You could also create a level like โStepping Stonesโ. While I have finished it in less than 10.5 seconds, it takes a solid minute or two to complete casually. The large temporal gap between speedrunning and casual play makes the level more engaging โ extreme shortcuts add depth to the level, enhancing the overall experience even when using the full route.
This is a nice level, but I would suggest that last bouncy floor being further (or extended) from the wall so you are not required to slow down.
As a side note, I would recommend creating a custom rock texture.
It is enjoyable to play a well-designed, easy level that takes about 1 minute for a casual player to complete, but about 10 seconds to speedrun. Think of โArchipelagoโ, which can be beaten in just over 8 seconds.
Why not embrace short levels, especially with their shortcuts? Otherwise, simply make the level longer ๐๐ถ๐๐ต๐ผ๐๐ ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ธ๐ถ๐ฝ๐ by extending the path. Primarly focus on level length for casual players, not necessarily for speedrunners.

I cannot believe that you used a Scratch project as your personal Photoshop. I need to ask though--can everyone use your textures for their own levels? It would be really nice if we had additional textures for custom levels.
